Deputy Acuña is assigned to our Century Regional Detention Facility (Women’s Jail) and briefly describes her daily duties as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy Sheriff. Since 1888, LASD has had women working our female county jails. Women who worked LA County jails from 1888 to the early 1900’s were called “Jail Matrons”.
